Landscape edging is not so difficult for a beginner that he needs a professional expert to install it. You can do it easily if you follow the right method and divide the landscape sections easily.
Remember, before directly fixing the edging in the landscape, a few steps should be taken. In your lawn areas, grass may invade the garden and shrub areas, so mow that first and make a few inches of line division among them all.
Is that too quick? Don't worry, here, I'll guide you to install the landscape edging with an easy method that'll be visible and look professional.
Landscape edging installation
To install the landscape edging you should have proper tools and a helper if the landscape is too big. In average size lawns, you can do it alone.
Mostly, people ignore their walking path in the landscape but I'll suggest you use edging in the path perimeter also.
Let's see how it works and then I'll guide you further.
What is landscape edging?
Landscape designs provide a cool, unique, attractive, and classy look to the house. The landscape is a combination of lawn grass, shrubs, trees, garden, and outlines.
It happens many times that grass and shrubs grow too long that you can't distinguish the walking path, garden, and lawn boundaries properly.
It is important to make visible edges in the landscape to identify the boundaries of the lawn, garden, and shrubs area that can make things systematic. This edging of the landscaping area also helps to restrict invasive grass, shrubs, and garden plants in various sections, making their boundaries visible accordingly as well.

Before starting the installation
I want you to know some basic points to remember before and while installing the landscape edging walls-
- Your lawn should be mowed properly before landscape edging wall installation. If it is not then at least mow it to the average height.
- You should have proper measurements of your lawn and landscape perimeter so that you can measure the wall length.
- Don't get worried if you never used a proper cutting tool or have never done work like that before. If you are a grown person then it'll be easier just by following the step-by-step guide.
- If you have a big-sized lawn then you need at least one helper with you to handle the whole installation workload otherwise it may take many days to install it.
- The material of the landscape edging wall should be stronger and long-lasting otherwise it is a waste of time and money.
Installation guide for landscape edging
Step 1- Trim your landscape edges first
First, stand in the most suitable corner from where you can see every single section of your lawn roughly.
You've to trim the edges to make the installation of edging very clear. For that, use a trimmer and start trimming the edges of the lawn perimeter first.
If you have a garden and shrubs both in the same lawn, then trim and make a 2.5 to 3 inches thick gap in between lawn boundaries and other sections.
Step 2- Remove the extra soil from the walking path perimeter
You've to remove the extra soil from the edges of the lawn and walking path perimeter so that you can level the ground and reduce the uneven surface.
For that, you can use a small spade and remove all the extra soil from the edges of the path.
Step 3- Mark and measure the division lines of the lawn, garden, and shrub areas
Till now, you've more a clear look at your landscape edges. But we'll make it more visible and comfortable for the installation of edging walls.
Measure the perimeter of the edges of the entire sections where you've to install the edging wall and mark simultaneously.
Step 4- Ready your tools and start unrolling the edging wall roll
So now, you've to unroll the wrapped edging wall but before that check your tools again.
You should wear at least safety gloves and other safety requirements as you're going to use sharp tools here and I don't want you to get injured.
Step 5- Measure and fix landscape edging
Start from one end of the lawn and then start unrolling after. First, you've to fix the one end so that I'll not pull out while you'll unroll it. For that, you can use nails that the roll company provides you or you can use suitable ties to hold it there.
You need a helper here so that one person can unfold it and one can fix it simultaneously.
Remember, the wall should be touched on the ground properly and tightened enough so that it'll not get loose or pull out easily. Normal scissors or cutters will not work on this so use sharp cutters carefully with proper safety measurements.
